Victorian Deer Park Inn
Culinary Delight

The historic Pennington Cottage, which houses the Deer Park Inn, was constructed in 1889 by Josiah Pennington. A prominent Baltimore architect, he designed the 17 room “Cottage” as a summer home for his family on the grounds of the world famous Deer Park Hotel, no longer in existence. The Inn is furnished with Victorian antiques, many of which are original to the Cottage. The remaining pieces are from the old hotel and other Allegheny estates, collected throughout the years.

Converted into a Bed & Breakfast and Restaurant in 1986, the business was purchased by Pascal and Sandy Fontaine, originally from France, three years ago. “My Grandfather owned a big, old, house like this in France,” says Pascal. “It was always our dream to own something like it,” he added. The history of the building appealed to the Fontaines as well. “We walked through the front door, took one look, and knew this was the place for us,” adds Sandy.

Candlelight dining at the Deer Park Inn is styled and prepared by the owner and Chef, Pascal Fontaine, formerly the Executive Chef at the Westin Hotel and the Ana Hotel in Washington, D.C. Although Pascal received his culinary training in France, he traveled extensively before coming to the U.S. This has greatly influenced his cooking as shown in the diverse menu at the Deer Park Inn. All the food at the restaurant is prepared from scratch on site. From the freshly baked multi-grain bread to the homemade pastas and delectable desserts. Those with gourmet tastes will find braised duck and fresh rabbit, fresh Pennsylvania goat cheese and poached asparagus. But there is truly something for everyone on this menu.

The Bed and Breakfast is open year round. The Fontaines offer three beautifully decorated Victorian rooms, all furnished with antiques.

Located in Deer Park, Maryland, just minutes from Deep Creek Lake. Hours of operation change seasonally. Reservations are recommended for dinner and guest rooms.
