From the warm greeting each customer receives to the floor murals and
photo wall, the guys at Highland Prospects are dedicated to customer
service and providing a totally unique shopping experience.
Highland Prospects was formed in January of 2006 by two Davis and Elkins
College graduates, Ben Clark and Jeremy Golston. The Sigma Phi Epsilon
fraternity brothers graduated in 2003 and 2004 respectively.
“Going to school in West Virginia allowed us ample opportunities to
enjoy the area’s vast recreational possibilities and the mountain
lifestyle.” said Jeremy. “Ben and I both fell in love with this area,
and we wanted a chance to share our experiences with others. Outfitting
people in the proper gear is the first step in being able to enjoy the
outdoors.”
Ben and Jeremy want Highland Prospects to be a resource first and
foremost. “We are here to give advice on products, proper caring of
products, and the region,” said Ben.
Ben and Jeremy have always enjoyed meeting new people and hearing where
they have been or were they are going. They strive to educate their
customers on everything from great new gear to the spots you have to see
while you are visiting. Highland Prospects, purveyors of backcountry
equipment, prides itself on carrying the industry’s top brands of
camping, backpacking, hiking, and other outdoor adventure gear.
“We have our own unique approach to owning and operating an outdoor
specialty store.” said Ben. He further explains how the two were able to
deliver this unique approach to the customer. “We are here to be a
resource to our customers, we hand pick all the merchandise in our
store. This ensures our customers will have the best possible outdoor
experience while using our gear.”
“We decided that Highland Prospects had to have its very own feel. We
took every measure to make that happen—from the merchandise to the
in-store décor to the advice and the customer service. From the minute
they walk in our customers will know they have encountered a different
type of store” Jeremy added.
The store is located within the old National Bank of Davis building next
to the United States Post Office. Highland Prospects can be reached at
